Intermediate Roundup

Crewe United have maintained their strong start in the Mid Ulster Intermediate A this week, romping to another big win.

Crewe had exited the Steel & Sons Cup on Saturday after a 3-1 defeat at home to Sirocco Works, but when Fivemiletown United visited Crewe Park in midweek, the hosts secured a 7-2 victory to keep up their 100% league record.

Their closest challengers so far are Windmill Star, also on nine points but theirs coming from four games. Star traveled to Lisburn on Saturday to face Ballymacash Rangers and secured a hard-fought 3-2 win. In midweek, however, they fell to their first defeat, going down 1-0 at Hanover.

Richhill AFC had a tough year last year, following on from their Intermediate B title win in 2016/17. This season has seen them start in great form, however, and their win over St Marys sees them with nine points from nine also.

At the other end of the table, AFC Silverwood sit alongside newly promoted Laurelvale without a point from their opening three league games.

In the NAFL 1st, Bangor have hit the ground running following an impressive season last season, winning all four games, the latest a thumping 7-0 win at struggling Downpatrick. Also on full points are back to back champions, Crumlin Star. This week they went one better than 1st Bangor, seeing off Derriaghy CC by an 8-0 scoreline.

Crumlin United picked up their first win of the season under new gaffer Ciaran Caldwell, with an impressive 4-1 victory at home to Ards Rangers. Rangers now sit one point from their three games, alongside Derriaghy CC and Drumaness Mills, while Downpatrick look set for a tough season, losing all three games by an aggregate of 16-0.
