Another week, another leader in the Amateur League as Immaculata took top spot following another goal-laden week across the Intermediate Leagues.
Last weeks leaders Shankill United fell to a 4-3 defeat at home to Crumlin United, and this allowed the Mac to go top of the pile thanks to a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Rathfriland. Elsewhere, third-placed 1st Bangor OB fell to a defeat at upwardly mobile Ballynahinch Olympic.
Olympic have taken to their maiden season in the top flight like a duck to water, and with a Border Cup semi-final also taking place this week, the ‘Hinch men are enjoying a fine year. Ards Rangers continued their recent resurgence, with a 1-0 win away at Derriaghy CC giving them a jump up to 8th spot in the table.
There were six goals shared at Meadowvale as Drumaness Mills and Albert Foundry drew 3-3 in a result which did neither side any favours. In the final game of the day, Islandmagee secured another impressive win of their own, seeing off bottom side Downpatrick 5-2 at Wilbourne Park.
Onto Mid Ulster now, where Hanover kept their grip on top spot with a 2-0 win away to nearby Tandragee Rovers. This keeps them six points clear at the summit, ahead of Moneyslane who romped to a 4-0 win at lowly Laurelvale. This allowed them to leapfrog Crewe United who are a point further behind but have played two games and four games less than ‘Slane and Hanover respectively.
St Marys picked up an important win at relegation rivals AFC Silverwood, seeing off their rivals 3-1 to jump back above Laurelvale in the table. In the day’s final fixture Fivemiletown United picked up an impressive win of their own, seeing off Ballymacash Rangers 1-0 at the Bluebell.
Up to the North West now, and the NI Intermediate League where reigning champions Magherafelt Sky Blues kept up their fine start to the season, winning 4-0 at Spires Park against Ardstraw to make it 5 wins from 5 in their title defence.
Newbuildings United moved into second place with a 4-0 win of their own, this one coming after the short journey to Swilly Stadium over Oxford United Stars. Elsewhere, Dungiven travelled to Trojans and made the journey back along the A6 with three points in the bag thanks to a 2-1 victory.
