In last week’s prediction league article, we asked the question if Dundalk could leapfrog Shamrock Rovers into first place and the answer was that they could as they saw off Bohemians by two goals to nil, while Rovers had a free week. Check out Keith O’Dwyer’s weekly League of Ireland (LOI) roundup to read all about it.
Here is the updated LOI Premier Division table after last week’s fixtures:-

It’s been two weeks since we last showed you the leaderboard in our own Over the Turnstile LOI Prediction League and in that time Cameron has crept ahead of Darren to move a point clear in 1st place and the top two have opened a slight gap on the rest of the chasing pack.
Defending champion Rodney is eight points off top spot in fifth and currently, Adrian is bringing up the rear in eighth place but one good or bad week of predictions for anyone can change things completely.
Here is the full leaderboard:-
1: Cameron | 51 |
2: Darren | 50 |
3: Liam | 45 |
4: Bryan | 44 |
5: Rodney/Keith O’D | 43 |
7: Keith F | 38 |
8: Adrian | 34 |
Currently, only goal difference keeps Dundalk ahead of Shamrock Rovers so even a win may not necessarily keep them there this weekend. Both the top two have away trips this week, Dundalk to Cork City and Rovers to U.C.D. ties that may seem favourable on paper but as we all know football is not played on paper so we’ll wait with keen interest to see who is top of the pile come tomorrow morning.
Finn Harps have a chance to move off bottom spot tonight and for this to happen they need Shamrock Rovers to beat U.C.D. and they themselves need to claim all three points when they host Waterford at Finn Park. Both these outcomes could be enough to move Ollie Horgan’s men off the bottom on goal difference.
Here is a full list of the fixtures taking place this weekend, all games kick off tonight at 19:45 unless otherwise stated:-
Cork City v Dundalk
St. Patrick’s Athletic v Bohemians
U.C.D. v Shamrock Rovers
Finn Harps v Waterford (tonight at 20:00)
Sligo Rovers v Derry City (tomorrow at 19:45)
As always our panel of ‘experts’ will be awarded three points for predicting the correct result in a game and a point for the correct outcome, Liam is up first this week.
