After a week’s break for the second round of the FAI Cup the SSE Airtricity Premier Division returns this weekend with a total of four games.

By far the biggest game this weekend is tomorrow afternoon when Shamrock Rovers welcome Bohemians to Tallaght Stadium. Currently Rovers top the table but their Dublin counterparts are only two points behind them so defeat for them would see the Bohs take over at the top of the table.

The full fixture list for the Premier Division this weekend is as follows: –

Waterford v St. Patrick’s Athletic (Friday 4th September at 19:45)

Shamrock Rovers v Bohemians (Saturday 5th September at 14:00)

Shelbourne v Cork City (Saturday 5th September at 17:00)

Sligo Rovers v Finn Harps (Monday 7th September at 19:45)

The last round was a low scoring one for our writer’s, due mostly to a couple of surprise results. The top scorer was Liam with four points, he was one of just two writers who predicted Sligo would beat champions Dundalk and also correctly predicted a 2-0 victory for Bohemians in their game. Incidentally the other writer who backed a Sligo win was Rovers fan Keith, but Keith, like Liam, went for a 2-1 scoreline and missed out on three points as the game finished 3-1.

This keeps Liam at the top of the leaderboard, he’s currently sitting comfortably 10 points ahead of nearest challenger Rodney but as we have seen before all that can change fairly quickly.

Here is the full Writer’s Prediction League Table: –

1. Liam (Irish Cancer Society)39
2. Rodney (Marie Curie Cancer Care)29
3. Bryan (Children’s Cancer Unit at Royal Victoria Hospital)26
4. Darren (Cancer Research UK)25
5. Adrian (Alzheimer’s Society)/Richard (The National Autistic Society)21
7. Cameron (Prostate Cancer UK)22
8. Keith (North-West Hospice)21

As usual in our prediction league, our writers get three points for a correct result and a point for a correct outcome. Richard is up first this week.
