This week saw one Intermediate side confirm themselves as Champions in their league, and with that confirmation of their place in the Premier Intermediate League playoff.

Dollingstown were preseason favourites for the Mid Ulster Intermediate A, having been crowned champions of the division this time last year. They went on to lose out in the playoff final against NI Intermediate League side Portstewart, and will be hoping to go one better this time around.

Banbridge Rangers and Crewe United pushed the Dolly Birds right till the end, but this weekend’s emphatic 7-0 win over Fivemiletown United in their penultimate game put the seal on an excellent season.

Banbridge had to settle for second spot following a 3-0 win on the road to their nearest challengers Crewe United, who themselves need victory in their last game at relegated AFC Silverwood to secure 3rd spot.

That 3rd place can still be taken by Hanover, who won an 8 goal thriller 5-3 at home to Fivemiletown United on Tuesday, and they finish their season this weekend with a home game against Ballymacash Rangers.

With the title secured Dollingstown took the chance to mix up their squad ahead of Friday nights Marshall Cup final against reigning holders Crewe at Crystal Park. They fell to a heavy 6-0 defeat at Valley Rangers, but with the title in the bag and the potential to make it a double, plus the impending to-legged playoff, this result will be quickly forgotten at Planters Park.

Their opponents will come from the Ballymena League; with the top two both ready to take the step back up into the PIL.

Glebe Rangers picked a very good time to move into top spot in the BPIL, with just one game to go they overtook long time leaders Bangor thanks to two wins this week. On Saturday they travelled to North Belfast and battled to a 2-1 win over Brantwood, and they followed this up on Tuesday night with a thumping 6-1 win over reigning Champions Coagh United at the Riada Stadium.

Bangor kept their fine run going with a 5-0 win over Cookstown RBL, but Glebe have overtaken them despite a very busy schedule of games in the run in, winning 8 of the last 9 games in just 7 weeks, ironically only losing to Bangor in that run.

Both sides have one game to go, but unusually they will not take place at the same time, with Bangor hosting Dunloy on Saturday, while Glebe must wait until Tuesday when they host 3rd place St James Swifts.

On to the NAFL now, where the title race remains in the hands of the reigning champions Crumlin Star, with Rathfriland keeping them honest at the business end of the season.

This midweek saw both record comfortable away wins, with Star seeing off Crumlin Utd 4-0, while Rathfriland defeated Drumaness Mills 3-0.

Rathfriland will finish their season with three away games, beginning tonight (Thursday) at Crumlin United. On Saturday they travel to the Drome to take on 1st Bangor, while their season rounds up right next door at DromePark where they take on Ards Rangers.

Crumlin Star need two wins from their three games to be sure of the title, and they also begin away from home tonight, at the Hammer to take on Shankill Utd. On Saturday they travel to long time leaders East Belfast, before their final game next Tuesday at home to bottom side Lisburn Rangers.

The NI Intermediate league has long since been wrapped up of course, with Magherafelt Sky Blues crowned champions over a month ago. Bottom spot is the only position still to be decided, with Oxford Utd Stars knowing two wins will take them off bottom spot, as they take on second bottom side Ballymoney tonight (Thursday) before hosting city and stadium rivals Maiden City on Saturday.
