Intermediate Roundup

In a week where the league action was decimated by Irish Cup fixtures, East Belfast were the big winners of the day. Traveling to a Downpatrick side who have struggled so far this season, the East handed them a ten goal hammering on their own patch.

There were hat-tricks for strikers Andy Kane and Danny McKee, with the remaining goals shared between Stephen Cockcroft, Karl Rossborough, Taylor Evans and Gary McDermott as the East moved into second place with three wins and a draw from their four games.

League leaders 1st Bangor OB slipped to a 1-0 home defeat to Shankill United, who stay level on points with East Belfast, albeit having played one game more. At the foot of the table, Ards Rangers and Drumaness Mills remain without a win as they fought out a 1-1 draw at the Drome.

In Mid Ulster Crewe United remain on top with four wins from four as they saw off Windmill Star at Crewe Park. Paul Browns double was topped off by a goal from Chris Scannell as Eamon McCarthy’s men kept their perfect record going.

Meanwhile, Richhill AFC fell to their first defeat of the season, going down 2-1 in a tight game at Moneyslane, while St Marys and Bourneview Mill fought out a 1-1 draw.

On Tuesday night Moneyslane made it a quickfire double as they secured an impressive 2-1 win on the road at Valley Rangers. This result lifted them up into second place, two points behind Crewe United but having played one game more.
