Every country and league will always have a set of top clubs within it. England has Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea that are dominating now, but historically speaking, the top 3 clubs of England in terms of trophies are, Liverpool, United, and Arsenal.

In Germany, you will have Bayern Munich and Dortmund or if you go to Spain, you will encounter the Barcelonas and Madrids.

The point we’re trying to make is that every country has clubs that stand out from the crowd and are extremely successful.

And Ireland is no exception to that, as there is enough backdrop of history to define its finest clubs.

So historically speaking, here are the four most successful clubs in Ireland!

Bohemians

Bohemians Football Club is a Dublin-based Irish professional football club that competes in the League of Ireland Premier Division.

They are Ireland’s fourth most successful team of all time. The club has 11 league titles, 7 FAI Cups, and so on.

Bohemians are another Irish football flag bearer in European club football, with Dundalk, Shamrock Rovers, and others.

Shelbourne

Shelbourne is a Dublin-based Irish professional football team that competes in the League of Ireland Premier Division.

Shelbourne, founded in 1895, is the third most successful Irish club, having won 13 league crowns, seven FAI Cups, and other major domestic honors.

Six of their 13 league titles have come in the new format.

The club’s first championship came in the 1925–26 season. The club has had success, winning three straight titles from 2002 to 2004.

Dundalk

Dundalk is a professional Irish football team headquartered in Dundalk that plays in the League of Ireland Premier Division.

It is the second most successful team in Irish football history, and they have also had greater success in European football competitions such as the UEFA Europa League.

Dundalk has 11 league titles and 12 FAI Cups to its name.

However, the club is the most successful in the current era of the League of Ireland Premier Division, with 8 titles, while Shamrock leads with 18 overall and 6 in the modern era.

Dundalk, founded in 1903, has a favorable placing in UEFA Club Competitions as a result of previous years’ remarkable results.

Shamrock Rovers

Shamrock Rovers is a Tallaght-based professional football team that plays in the League of Ireland Premier Division.

They are the most successful Irish football club, having won more trophies than any other club.

Shamrock has won 18 League championships, 25 FAI Cups, and 25 League of Ireland Shields, among other things.

They have won the league the most times, and they also boast a record 25 FAI Cups dating back to 1925.

Although they have won the FAI Cup only once in 2019 since the start of the century, Shamrock Rovers had a six-year winning streak in the FAI Cup from 1964 to 1969, and a three-year winning streak from 1985-1987.

Shamrock Rovers have produced the most players who have gone on to represent the country at the international level in the history of the country’s senior national team.

This is by far the best professional football team in Ireland!
