Danske Bank Premiership: Shiels hopes for a swift rise off the bottom for Dungannon

There is a full fixture list in the Danske Bank Premiership this weekend and we have a new manager at the helm at Dungannon Swifts.

It was announced last night that former Hibernian and Rangers forward, and 14 times capped Northern Ireland international, Dean Shiels had taken over as manager of the club on a two and a half year day.

We’ll have a further article on this appointment next week but Shiels’ first priority will be to guide the Swifts off the bottom of the table, while there is no threat of relegation this season due to The Championship season been scrapped due to Covid-19 not finishing bottom could be huge when it comes to summer recruitment.

The new manager will be on a watching brief tomorrow when his new side take on Coleraine at Stangmore Park before having a week to work with his players before his first game in charge against Larne tomorrow week.

There was a full set of fixtures played on Tuesday night, you can read all about those HERE but here are the full results from those games: –

Ballymena United 1-1 Cliftonville

Coleraine 2-0 Portadown

Glenavon 1-1 Carrick Rangers

Larne 0-3 Crusaders

Warrenpoint Town 4-1 Dungannon Swifts

Glentoran 3-1 Linfield

We will have an updated league table for you next week but currently Linfield remain top but their lead is only two points, at the moment there is only nine points separating the top six and with all the teams still having plenty of games to play and the fixtures coming thick and fast there could be plenty of change between now and the end of the season.
