Rodney moved one step closer to a Danske Bank Premiership and League of Ireland prediction league double at the weekend after correctly predicting the score for two of the latest round of fixtures but more on that later.
Linfield moved 11 points clear at the top for a time after coming from behind to beat Crusaders at Seaview on Friday night, Joel Cooper and Shayne Lavery found the net for the league leaders after former Blues player Ross Clarke had earlier given the home side the lead.
This put all the pressure on Coleraine going into their game the following day and for a while it looked like the gap between 1st and 2nd would remain extended but Aaron Canning did finally manage to break toe deadlock for The Bannsiders as one goal was enough to see off struggling Carrick.
Glentoran managed to close the gap on the top three as they saw off Glenavon 3-1 at The Oval, while Larne and Cliftonville played out a goalless draw and and at the bottom of the table Portadown beat Dungannon 1-0 as the bottom side are still searching for their first win under new manager Dean Shiels.
Here are the full results from the weekend’s games: –
Crusaders 1-2 Linfield
Warrenpoint Town 2-2 Ballymena United
Coleraine 1-0 Carrick Rangers
Dungannon Swifts 0-1 Portadown
Glentoran 3-1 Glenavon
Larne 0-0 Cliftonville
