League of Ireland: crucial game for Waterford in relegation fight

It has gone from a three-way tie at the top of the Premier Division to a two-way one following last weeks result, Sligo and Shamrock Rovers picked up wins to keep themselves ahead of the pack, but St. Pat’s had a 3-2 defeat against Bohemians, which sees them slip three points behind.

Drogheda United 3-1 Finn Harps

Derry City 2-0 Waterford

Bohemians 3-2 St. Patrick’s Athletic

Shamrock Rovers 3-1 Dundalk

Longford Town 0-1 Sligo Rovers

That left the full Premier Division looking like this: –

St. Pat’s have a chance to get back on level terms with Sligo and Shamrock Rovers as neither of the top two are playing this weekend due to European games taking place earlier in the week, Alan Matthews side welcome Derry to Richmond Park with a win moving them back to at least level points with the top two and possibly even further up the league.

There is a significant game at the bottom of the table, Finn Harps host Waterford with the visitors currently occupying the relegation/promotion play-off spot and trial their opponents tonight by seven points. A defeat for Waterford could prove to big a gap to claw back at this stage while a win moves them to within four points of guaranteed safety.
