The SSE Airtricity League Premier Division continues tonight (Friday 18th June 2021) and the top of the table currently makes for interesting reading.
With all teams having played 15 games to date, defending champions, Shamrock Rovers currently lead the way but they do have the exact same number of points as 2nd placed Sligo who are aiming to claim the title for the first time since 2012.
3rd placed St. Pat’s are only three points off top spot and Drogheda are three points further back in 4th position.
Bohemians, Finn Harps, Derry and Dundalk make up the middle of the table, currently lying 5th to 8th respectively and whilst the title may be too far out of reach at this stage a good run of form could push them into the reckoning for one of the European spots up for grabs.
Equally, though a bad run of form could see them dip towards the relegation zone, currently Waterford and Longford are in danger of being cut adrift as they occupy the bottom spot. 9th placed Waterford are currently eight points off safety and basement side Longford are 10 points adrift having not won since the first game of the season.
All 10 teams are in action tonight with the following games kicking off at 19:45, unless otherwise stated: –
Dundalk v Longford Town
Waterford v Shamrock Rovers
St. Patrick’s Athletic v Sligo Rovers
Bohemians v Drogheda United
